It´s been a week since the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show and we want to go over every detail! The first Victoria’s Secret fashion show was back in 1996 in New York and a lot of time has passed by so the years tend to blend together.
This year’s show in Paris was somewhat a combination of the old trends with the initial style but a perceptively different look, which pointed out the history of evolving and flowing into the latest trends and realities. And the place itself couldn’t be a better fit – what is the motherland of seduction, women in Channel and luxurious underwear, if not Paris?
It wouldn’t be shocking to say that the show was hot, dynamic and exquisite, VS is far-famed for it; but there was quite some extra hype involved this year also. Out of all the possible scenarios of running into your ex, the model Bella Hadid found the best way to do so. Wearing stunning Victoria’s Secret underwear killing it on the runway of Grand Palais to your ex – the Weeknd got the ultimate bitch slap in the world.
Lady Gaga, who the models were obsessing over backstage, was the main voice of the show, presenting some of the new album’s songs. Bruno Mars showed up on the stage wearing a fur coat probably overcompensating by the amount of the hot female bodies wearing fancy underwear.
This year VS fashion show had 50 models and the record amount of the Asian girls. The show was spread out into the six categories: Dark Angel, The Mountain Romance, Secret Angel, Pink Nation, The Road Ahead и Bright Night Angel. The categories fell into the Good Barbie – Bad Barbie scenario when combining the opposing styles. Among the French spirit of femme fatale, deeply seductive and revealing black underwear, laces and well-spread over-the-knee boots there was still a room for the VS classics: the wings, cheerleader styled socks, floral motives, mini dogs and all the Pink Nation elements at their finest. Even though there was a lot of criticism thrown at VS for being non-feminist strong woman who work hard walked down that runway. And what’s wrong with it? specially when you get wear a 3 million dollars bra ;).
Talking of which, one of the highlight of the show was the Victoria’s Secret angel Jasmine Tookes wearing the $3 million Fantasy Bra that the model says ‘got a bit too comfortable for a bra that you are scared to breathe in’. Well, it was custom made after all.
The show featured the usual angels like the hot Brazilians Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio as well as Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. It was by far the biggest show that VS ever had and for the first time in history, the show was hosted in the ultimate capital of love and fashion Paris.
