Three new designers you can’t miss at this season’s Paris Fashion Week

As summer comes to an end and September begins, designers finish frantically preparing for the 2016 Paris Fashion Week catwalk. The excitement builds as finishing touches are added and each collection is perfected.

Months and months of preparation comes to an end as designers, journalists, editors, and fashion-lovers flock to Paris, following the New York, London, and Milan Fashion Weeks. Over 100 brands will exhibit their work this year in Paris, split up into Haute Couture, Men’s Fashion, and Prêt-à-Porter.

Of course the big name brands, such as Chanel, Dior, Valentino, and Jean Paul Gaultier will be there, displaying their influential and much anticipated new collections, along with many up-and-coming young designers. Of those young designers, make sure to keep an eye out for Glenn Martens, Koché, and AALTO, as they are sure to shake up the Paris fashion scene this year.

Belgian born Glenn Martens graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2008, and immediately began to work as a junior designer for Jean Paul Gaultier in the same year. He launched his own brand of Womenswear, Glenn Martens , in 2012, and became the Creative Director of the Parisian brand, Y/Project in 2013. Marten seeks inspiration from all walks of life, from all eras of time, and from all over the globe. The word “versatile” describes his vision perfectly.

Christelle Kocher, the designer of Koché, is all about contrast; pairing everyday wear with Haute Couture. She graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002 and has worked with brands such as Chloé and Bottega Veneta before beginning her own line in 2013. Her designs, often described as “Couture to Wear”, are modern and sophisticated, taking an edgy approach to high fashion

Like KochéAALTO puts a large emphasis on contrast. Tuomas Merikoski, a Finnish designer who lives and works in Paris, launched AALTO in 2015. He has worked with designers such as Louis Vuitton and Givenchy. His designs combine both elegance and edge, as well as masculinity and femininity.

Look out for these three young designers– in just a few short weeks they will be displaying their work at one of the most significant and expressive fashion events of the year.

  1. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
